1: a collaborative group of women living on an island that are always there to support each other. 2: a large group often with a common interest. 3: a group of people summoned by a sheriff to aid in law enforcement.
We are very fortunate to live on an island with our little posse of friends (and beyond for you city-folk). Throughout all of our planning and preparation, we have been on the receiving side of a lot of support for our little expedition.
Here's a list of some of the support we are talking about. We thank you all , and please know that it means the world to us.
CG – She lives in a cabin here at the ranch, and the dogs just adore her. She'll be having dog sleepovers while we're gone, and keeping on eye on the house. YAY!
DW – Will drop her busy schedule and give us a ride to the airport (and maybe back?). Given the state of anxiety we'll be in by then, this is really great.
CA - We had to leave the island just about every weekend over the past couple of months for training hikes. There are several evenings when we came home all worn out, to find that our evening was all planned- a home-cooked meal and house full of friends over at CA's house and we didn't have to lift a finger.
MW - She provided some unique musical accompaniment to those evenings, involving the squeaky pipe part of a bagpipe without the bag.
MM - She'll be coming over to walk the dogs on the trails behind our house while we are gone. They love it when she and her dog Olive come over for walks.
A&C - Our old hiking buddies who are taking a few years off to raise Danny. We'll be counting on you for some remote IT support.
Dr. CF - She calmly answered our off-the-wall travel medicine questions.
MM and Ben -Have bravely agreed to oversee care of the "Can Man" while we are gone.
J&M and VR - You gals just exude positive energy.
Mom and Emmett - We know you're rooting for us. Have a special cigar for us!
